It took a long time to arrive but the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 touchscreen mobile is here. So how does it stack up amongst the other touch screen mobile contenders I hear you ask?!?!

The Xperia X1 is a touchscreen and keyboard hybrid, it includes a sizeable touchscreen as well as a small but perfectly formed QWERTY keyboard. The Xperia X1 also throws in something extra in the form of handwriting recognition, something which few competitors are able to offer.

The Xperia X1 runs on the Windows Mobile OS but up-front you’ll see an interface called Xperia Panels which gives a good-looking and user-friendly front end. Whats is on-screen therefore looks as good as the rest of the package, this is one seriously slick mobile, well-constructed and a pocket-friendly size despite the fact it’s packing a slide-out keyboard. The screen is 3? and gives a clear sharp image.

In terms of feature the Xperia X1 has handwriting recognition via a stylus, Wi-Fi built-in and HSDPA for when you can’t access Wi-Fi. There is also the now essential built-in camera, in this case a 3.2 megapixel with a decent autofocus so picture quality is good for a mobile. Internet access works well, it isn’t this camera’s strong point but certainly not a weakness.

All-in-all this is a good looking touch screen mobile that also has other input via the keyboard and handwriting recognition which also packs a decent camera. Let this mobile sync with your PC or laptop to unleach it’s full potential. A strong all-rounder!
